My mom is always documenting our family. One way or another, she’ll get us on camera.
And if there is ever a first, you can bet she’s going to want a piece of it.
Before I left for NYC and after my performance as Swanhilda in Coppelia, my mom sat me down and asked me some questions about my first lead role in a ballet. I’m glad she did, because it really got me thinking on a deeper level about the whole experience.
The video is a little long, about 30 minutes, but I hope you enjoy it. If you’re a young dancer, hopefully you’ll find some of this helpful. If you’re a seasoned professional, maybe you’ll see your younger self here and can add some advice for us all in the comments. I’d appreciate it!
And if you’re not a dancer but love watching ballet, hopefully you’ll enjoy this behind-the-scenes peek.
Let me know!
Love,
Annika XOXO
